Perhaps even the first major next-gen system seller? Gamescom offered the first chance to go hands-on with Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall – the brand new sci-fi first-person shooter from some of the key creative minds behind Call of Duty, the franchise that defined the current console generation. Having left Infinity Ward and regrouped with new additions to the core team, Respawn is now ready to let us play its new game, and first impressions are quite overwhelming. Technologically, it’s safe to say that the team’s first effort has an entirely different focus to its rivals. Titanfall looks stunning in motion, but it does so without using the latest in state-of-the-art rendering techniques. You can forget about the current vogue for materials-based physical rendering, sub-D tessellation or “levelution” dynamic environmental destruction. Titanfall uses established rendering techniques bolstered by next-gen power that work in combination with pitch-perfect art, design and action that combine beautifully to produce an experience that feels fresh and exciting.
Titanfall 2 System Requirements Revealed
Comments Shares Word on the street is a little game called Titanfall came out the other day. If you’re one of the many Xbox One owners, there’s a good chance you’ve already started playing it–or at least, you’ve tried. Our pals over at CVG have reported that many users faced connectivity issues with the online-only game following Tuesday’s launch. Some players can’t even sign into Xbox Live, let alone join a match to shoot at big ol’ robots. Many immediately pointed the Blame Finger at Titanfall’s publisher, Electronic Arts, saying–and I’m paraphrasing here–that these connection problems are no surprise, considering SimCity’s disastrous launch , or the similar issues faced by Plants vs.
Titanfall 2 introduces new Titan types following the first game – there’s six in total now, and they each have their own weaponry and abilities, ranging from the agile sword wielding Ronin, to.
Everyone, it seems, is playing it. Everyone has a copy. How are you finding it? I had a busy weekend, but still managed to squeeze in a handful of games and I’ve come to this conclusion: Titanfall is the perfect game for people who used to love Call of Duty and are now a little sick of Call of Duty. Yes, that’s pretty much everyone who plays games.

It’s no easy task. For more than two decades, the best FPS games have been the driving force of the PC gaming industry, letting us travel from the depths of Hell to the outer reaches of space, while taking a detour through zombie-infested towns and cities of tomorrow. Shooty-bang-bang games are fun and all, but what other genres are out there?

TITANFALL 2 |G2.1| “Whatever The Fuck That Means”
Respawn Entertainment has confirmed some more details about the upcoming matchmaking improvements that will be made to Titanfall, its online first-person shooter, and how the new Improved Matchmaking Beta will help it fine-tune the whole system. Titanfall is a competitive multiplayer-only first-person shooter in which two teams fight it out across many different maps and several various modes. As players perform in-game actions, they not only develop a better game sense but also improve their gear, loadouts, and their collection of burn cards.
Unfortunately, ever since the game’s release, the matchmaking system hasn’t exactly been the best at creating encounters with similarly matched opponents, as you could easily get a team with players of levels 1 through 10 that faced off against another team with levels in the 30s or 40s.
Respawn has just posted a detailed update regarding Titanfall’s matchmaking system. There has been quite a few issues with that system, including long waiting times and unbalanced match ups.
October 30, It was my understanding Titanfall 2 was suppose to be on Dedicated servers. It’s only been a day and I tried to comment on TF2 forums to see if someone could answer this but nothing yet, just a video on tick rate and latency which was not the question. Is it correct that is a personal host, I thought that what I was told on this forum before.
Anyone else have this experience or perhaps know what is happening with Titanfall 2 servers? Did Titanfall 2 perhaps find some way around the GEO Filters if that is even possible or maybe the GEO filters are not reading what is going on correctly. Just an update and some more info if this helps to clarify what I am seeing.
No wonder why kill cams don’t ever show me shooting at the player after I am killed. I actually have better luck with COD servers than this most of the time. Am I missing something? It kind of acts like when you try to Temp Ban a server farm, it just reconnects you to another in the same location.

Respawn discovered a nasty bug that had to be fixed at the last minute, pushing back the certification process that platform holders require all games and updates to go through.
Other content additions coming in the update include a new Coliseum map, a new execution, and new faction intros.
Currently, skill matching is not the priority when searching in Matchmaking, while it does have some effect finding games as fast as possible is the priority. Share via Email Titanfall programmer Jon Shiring talks about how cloud-based processing have shaped the whole experience In Titanfall, the war zones are alive with activity. Not just the usual chaos of players scurrying through buildings, blasting each other, but peripheral events, too. Gigantic star cruisers float overhead as smaller craft zip around them firing missiles at distant buildings; towering monsters lope across looming alien backdrops, attacking defensive walls; engineering robots make futile attempts to repair damaged facilities.
Developer Respawn Entertainment wanted to instil in its multiplayer-only title a sense of narrative cohesion, a feeling that these distant planets exist beyond the frenzied firefights going on in the foreground. And about those fights. Instead, every Titanfall bout will be on a dedicated server, ensuring all players get the same performance, and that the game experience is stable. We completely maxed out every data centre in Europe at one point, and we still had more people who wanted to play so we started to invisibly shuffle them over to east coast US data centres so they could take part.
That was our mentality. But with Titanfall is seems, there has been a clear benefit. The game runs on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, a vast infrastructure of severs with a global network of data centres. The advantage for developers, though, is that, according to Shiring, Microsoft is offering access to the platform at a massively reduced rate to game makers.
With a large network of servers available, Respawn is able to seamlessly shift players around when data centres get over-crowded, finding them spaces in other areas. We can invisibly shuffle you back so you get the lower ping.

Sunday night i bought the Expedition DLC, couldn’t play it till monday noon. Getting into Attrition usually works after a few minutes, but last titan standing mostly seems to be populated by the same couple of guys trying to get their regen challenges for the next generation. I tried to play campaign again these last couple of days, joining a specific mission usually does not work, quickplay sometimes manages to match you up after some waiting.
But recently Respawn changed the matchmaking system in some ways and most of these changes seem pretty smart, like widening the region search after a while. I also never noticed heavy stacking, quite the opposite. The games matchmaking actually does a pretty good job at breaking up uneven team combinations, most of the time you will only end up playing rounds vs a heavily stacked team in terms of skill , after that matchmaking usually is looking for a new enemy team with lower skill.
Of course all this works only really well when there is an big enough player pool to select players from. It’s still kind of a bummer how much of an impact the Expedition DLC had on the playerbase because it basically split it. You can’t play DLC outside the peak-times already, how is this gonna work in a couple of month with even more DLC out and the game having bleed out even more players!? Imho Respawn should have given these maps out for free and instead found some other way to monetize on future content, that way they could have brought players back in into the game new free maps!
